Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official introductory program for 4-10 year olds and their families. The national program provides an environment where children of all abilities can achieve on the court and reap the rewards of skill development, enhanced self-esteem, social co-operation and grassroots sports participation. Aussie Hoops introduces children to basketball in a structured and accredited environment that connects our game at the grassroots through to the elite level. Our national coaching curriculum and sequentially-developed program consists of warm-up games, skill activities and modified games all delivered by accredited coaches.

The Program

Overview

Aimed at 4-10 year olds, Sharks Aussie Hoops program is the perfect introduction to basketball, in a fun and engaging environment.

We will be following a similar format to what we introduced halfway through last year with 3 groups based on experience, age and the goals of the participants.

Rookies

An introduction to basketball skills through fun and engaging activities, aimed at first time and younger participants.

Future stars

With a continued focus on fun and engagement, participants will build on the skills they have previously learnt, through slightly more challenging activities.

All Stars

For those participants who may be interested in joining a team for the next Geelong United Basketball season. We will begin sessions with skills based activities and ending with full court games, giving participants a chance to experience as close to a real game as possible to prepare them for when they are ready to join a team.
