The Sharks Basketball Club is thrilled to announce the appointment of Courtney Burke as our new Head Coach of the Sharks Junior Program. In addition, Courtney will also take the reins as Head Coach of the Sharks Senior Men’s team, bringing her leadership and expertise to both ends of our player pathway.
Courtney steps into the senior men’s role following the departure of Justin Horrobin, who has led the team with passion and dedication over the past three years. We thank Justin for his valuable contribution and the strong foundations he has built during his time at the helm.

Courtney’s Coaching Experience
Currently an U18 Girls Geelong Coach, Youth League assistant coach, and an active coach in the Victorian Country Development Program, Courtney brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Sharks. In her new roles, she will:
Lead monthly skills sessions for U8–U16 players
Conduct game reviews and provide feedback to enhance player development
Oversee coach education initiatives to build coaching confidence and consistency
Collaborate with Age Group Coordinators and age-level coaches to ensure a fair and transparent team selection process for the Summer Season
Guide the Senior Men’s program with a focus on strong culture, high performance, and development opportunities
A Vision for Growth
Sharks Basketball Club President Paul Bugg shared:
“We are delighted to welcome Courtney to these leadership roles. Her experience and passion for developing players and coaches will make a lasting impact on our club – from our youngest juniors to our senior men’s team.”
Courtney added:
“I’m excited to join Sharks and contribute to the growth of young players and coaches, as well as lead the Senior Men’s program. I look forward to building a strong, inclusive club that supports development at all levels.”
